The 80s are back!

Sweaty Stepper!
Yeah it was totally worth it digging out my old step! I did five minute chunks with different weight lifting moves in between and I am feeling it. Seriously though, I don't know what got my heart rate up higher, the exercise or child #2 crying himself to sleep. Night time is mommy time and don't forget it!

Just kidding!

I know I don't have many readers yet but I'm going to go ahead and ask:
What's your favorite cross training exercise?

Skinny Jeans and Saltines

Now it may or may not be because of my current stomach bug but I am proud to announce that my skinny jeans, or what we ladies call jeggings, are now baggy jeans. While I would normally be a little sad about this (hey, I JUST bought them) I'm a little more giddy than normal. This is me compensating for all the crappy feelings I've been trudging through for the last two days.

Goodbye =[

Did I mention that I bought them for under $7 at Target?

But seriously, with the exception of breakfast, all I ate was two servings of saltines and a sugar free chocolate pudding mousse. Or is it mousse pudding? Whatever. That pudding is extremely tasty with Cool Whip on top. You know what's best about it is the no-crazy-blood-sugar-spike deal that comes with most treats. When chocolate is the topic I could go on and on.

Hello Lovelies <3

Cross training was in order today but I was side tracked by the husband having a meeting at 1pm, the usual time I head out the door for the gym. So I drove to Sally's and picked up a couple of new nail polishes. Eh, I guess I should have checked the reviews on Makeup Alley for one of them but it was on clearance so no love lost. Now my house smells and I'm sitting wishing that I was at the gym. I have an old skool school step under my bed, maybe I should dust that thing off.

I actually can't knock this thing- it helped me lose 35lbs before so I could conceive child #1!

S.I.C.K.

Ah the life of a stay at home mom!
toothpaste for dinner
Thank you child #1 for giving me the stomach bug that had me gagging changing your sheets, clothes etc. every two hours. My stomach is absolutely turning and it doesn't help that the husband had to have eggs for lunch nor does it help that I had to cook it. This mama's cranky today, watch out!

At least the stomach bug waited until I was finished with my run. It was a blessing in disguise since I had totally been planning on not waking up for a run this morning. Sunlight was already coming through the windows and I prayed that it was early enough for me to get outside- it was just six! So to the potty he went then back in his room to play with his toys.

For Alabama in May, it was pretty chilly outside and my hands were a little numb by the time I returned back home. There were also not very many cars on the road this morning so I could actually run on the asphalt surface than the sidewalk. I didn't leave early enough to miss the students though and I'd be lying if I didn't say that I was a little apprehensive passing the multiple bus stops on my route. I haven't been out of high school that long!

Map My Run helped me to find a nearly perfect two mile run (2.03 to be exact) and I was so happy that I remembered to map it out before bed. There was actually a downhill section for me to just let go on! Our neighborhood is mostly hills so this was a relief because while I love my lungs not exploding the burn in my quads, I wasn't feeling hills this morning. Then 15 minutes after I walked in the door BOOM I felt like crap. Go figure!

Note to self: I need new running capris- Having to pull them up constantly is a PITA!

I Heart Hal Higdon

I love doing 5ks. I do, really. It's awesome to finish, amazing to know that I CAN do it. But lately I've been curious as to just how far I can bring my body. Surfing the internet brought me to this page and I was happy to find an 8k training program. Call me a wuss, but jumping up to a 10k feels a little daunting. Now I just have to choose whether to start now or to wait until after my birthday. Hmmmm...

Here's the plan that Mr. Higdon suggests:

Tuesdays are always a bust

Off days are circuit training days, meaning I usually hit the gym for a turn with the stationary bike. Today my truck sits in the driveway in pieces. Sigh. I've been exercising for a while now but not long enough for me to go berserk over missing my workout. Thankfully, my eating is somewhat in control so I won't have anything to regret tomorrow. What irritates me though is that, for the first time in months, my feet were not sore at all when I woke up this morning! Why this couldn't happen on a running day is beyond me.

Today I realized that I'm ready to take my running to the next level. Am I really going to let myself max out at 3.1 miles? The women who write many of the running blogs I follow do weekly long runs of 12-18 miles! It's time to get my butt in gear and research the safest way to do this. I know the first place I'll be headed is Jeff Galloway's site. When everyone refers to their own training plans, this man's name always comes up and it's a great site.

Tuna and Jumping to The End of The Line

Plain like me old tuna on a five carb wrap

Today I should have done two miles but I forgot to charge my phone so it's dead and without my gps I have no idea how far I went. I walked back in the house nearly twenty minutes after I walked out so I know for certain that I was moving way too fast. Child #1 has had a stomach bug lately so I was thankful to get out no matter how far I went.

Lunch was a tuna wrap and a short Facebook session brought me upon this morning's shocking news of the olympic gold medalist marathoner, Samuel Wanjiru of Kenya, who threw himself from the balcony of his home in an apparent suicide. This just goes to show that you can have it all and have nothing at the same time.

Run on brother!

The cat's out of the Recyclable bag!

Yup, I made a little page for the blog on facebook. Check it out and 'like' it if you please! Sorry, I was totally channeling those siamese cats from Lady and the Tramp (is that even the right movie? Ugh).
